
International "Vive las verduras" Congress
On the first day of the congress, the Plaza de Baluarte was the venue for a tasting of a local vegetable stew (menestra) prepared by seven local restaurants. 400 kilos of vegetables including peas, broad beans, borage, artichokes, green beans and asparagus. The restaurants Alambra, Europa, Don Pablo, Túbal, Rodero, Molino de Urdaniz and Maher, coordinated by Álex Múgica from Basakabi made the event possible. Each restaurant prepared one of the vegetables used and some 25 litres of stock. These were then blended together in the Plaza de Baluarte, making for 900 servings of this traditional, vegetable-based dish.
