
II International "Vive las verduras" Congress
The chef from Lasarte, Martín Berasategui, was given the 2nd Reyno de Navarra - Vive las Verduras Prize by the Regional Minister for Rural Development of the Government of Navarre, Begoña Sanzberro, and his colleague and friend Ferrán Adriá.
Martín Berasategui said that he was very happy to receive this award which he considers the maximum exponent of the Vive las Verduras International Congress. The Prize, which consists of 40,000 euros and an exclusive sculpture by Faustino Aizkorbe, is the second in Europe in terms of monetary value.
Berasategui expressed his gratitude and said that it recognises “the work which, as a chef, I carry out in creating, researching and developing innovative cuisine to promote traditional products from our land.”
The Regional Minister for Rural Development of the Government of Navarre, Begoña Sanzberro, praised Berasategui, a great chef of world renown who is young yet very mature in the kitchen.
His colleague, Ferran Adrià, also had some words of recognition for his friend, on one of the happiest days of his life.
