This was the fourth time that these international prizes, which acknowledge the leading position of women in different fields of gastronomy, have been awarded. On being recognised as female chef of the year, the Luxembourger Lea Linster, the only woman to have won the prestigious Bocuse d’Or, assured that "the world of gastronomy is the only one which makes me happy". The Mayor of Pamplona, Yolanda Barcina, presented the prize. Awards were also presented to the Italian Gianola Nonino (gastronomic entrepreneur), the Pole living in Spain Kasia Romanska (woman of wine), Carmen Casas (journalist) and Mandi Ciriza, the director of Canal Cocina (in the tendencies category). Finally, Atxen Jiménez (Restaurante Túbal in Tafalla) was "proud and moved" to receive the special prize for a life of gastronomy for her 50 years of devotion to and passion for the restaurant trade from the President of the Government of Navarra, Miguel Sanz. This award, sponsored by the Government of Navarra's Department of Tourism, was called the Reyno de Navarra Prize.
The prize-giving ceremony formed part of the closing event of the International Congress Navarra Gourmet, held in the Main Hall of the Conference Centre and Auditorium of Navarra, Baluarte, Pamplona from the 18th to the 20th of May. The prizes were sponsored by the Ciudad Agroalimentaria de Tudela.
